It is safe to say that we are living in big data era. Big data involves in all kinds of companies. Scientific research is not an exception. Especially, in astronomy and astrophysics where there are the oceans of the data. Most astronomical informations require heavy computation, hence HPC play an essential part of this research filed. Both NARIT and the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) realise the important of data science in astrophysics and other areas. NARIT – ICRAR workshop is designed to training the key skills and knowledge in that state of art. The topics covers from HPC on private cloud which can be benefit both people inside and outside astrophysics, data processing of single dish radio astronomy, machine learning in astrophysics, data transfer and data management and regional data centre for Square Kilometre Arrays (SKA). All participants who attract in astrophysics, HPC, cloud computing, data science or machine learning are welcome. If you are interested in this workshop, please register via this application page : https://goo.gl/forms/Hgr1OP66Tr7DGrhu1

Technical Prerequisites

Virtualbox VM: To do the OpenMP, MPI, NGAS, CASDA and Machine Learning Tutorials you will need to download Virtualbox from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads. A VM will be provided with all the relevant software pre-loaded. The image can also be downloaded from Google Drive.

Participants of the VO CASDA tutorial on Tuesday need to request an OPAL account here:https://opal.atnf.csiro.au/register.do

This is necessary for ASKAP data access. Requests can be launched irrespective of workshop attendance and at any time from now on, the sooner the better.
